Project Overview
As Abby Pendergrast's design assistant, I supported the development of her first original product, a series of pillows made from deadstock fabrics. There are two designs: one a grid and one more abstract. Originally, Abby intended to do just one release of the pillows, but because they sold out so quickly, she has continued production.
Prototypes
The design process involved developing digital prototypes, which I created in Figma using color matches from the fabric we sourced in downtown Los Angeles. We provided these prototypes to the sewers Abby hired so that they could understand how the pillows were to be constructed.
Photography
I also assisted with the production of a photoshoot where we captured a series of product shots. This involved planning the shoot, selecting appropriate props, and being on-site to assist the photographer.
Printed Cards
Abby wanted to include a special printed note to send along when folks purchased a pillow, so I designed a card that could be slid into the package with the pillow when it was shipped to a customer. Abby ended up selling her pillows at her friend's local shop, Bonita Bodega, and these thank-you notes were handed to customers who purchased them.
